In essence globalisation of the recruitment market is no bad thing: anything that widens the field of talent available must be good since it brings new perspectives and ideas. To make it work, countries with high employment and skill shortages will need continually to review their immigration policies - establishing highly skilled migrant categories, simplifying the work permit application process, introducing a more attractive tax regime for employees from overseas. This is not the only way to solve skill shortages, nor will it solve all recruitment problems, but it could well be an important factor in ensuring continued economic growth
